This Study Names the 5 Safest Countries in Europe for Travelers in 2022

Editor’s Note: We know COVID-19 is continuing to impact your travel plans. Should you travel now, be sure to familiarize yourself with the CDC’s latest guidance on domestic and international travel as well as local requirements, protocols, and restrictions for both your destination upon your arrival and your home city upon your return. Be safe out there.

It might feel a bit unfamiliar to plan a trip as travel becomes popular again this summer. The first thing to do is figure out where to go. Everything from the costs of the flights to the sights will factor into your calculations if you are planning to travel by yourself or head to Europe for the first time this summer. Safety will come up. Forbes Advisor conducted research to find out which countries are the safest for travelers this year.

Forbes advisor used metrics like the quality of bathing water and healthcare to give each country a final score. It makes sense that the metrics make sense when you consider how easy it would be for a vacation to go bad if your purse was snatched or you got sick while swimming. Five countries in Europe were found to be the safest by Forbes Advisor. Here they are in chronological order.

1. Switzerland 2. The country of Slovenia. The country of Portugal. There are 5 countries in Austria. It is Germany.

In 2022, Switzerland is the safest country to visit. Some of the lowest rates of air pollution, the sixth-best quality of bathing water, and some of the lowest reported homicides are all found in it. The lowest homicide rate in Europe and some of the best healthcare is found in Slovenia. Austria, Germany, and Portugal all rank well.

All five countries on the list are considered a Level 3 risk by the CDC. If you have a weakened immune system or are not up to date with your vaccines, the CDC recommends that you not travel to that location.

“Safety can be a decisive factor when people are considering where to spend their holidays, and these figures show there are considerable differences across Europe when measuring factors such as the quality of bathing waters or the levels of theft,” a Forbes Advisor representative said.

If you’re going to head out on your own, there are other ways to be safe. Check out safety features in booking apps, pick up the right gadgets, and catch up on common-sense safety tips before you leave.
